THE SHADOW OF THE PRINCESS

That year wasn’t the best for Jack at school. His parents had told him that they would send
him to Shleiden if he continued failing his exams. Finally, they decided to send him to that camp in
the summer. “There he will learn the importance of studying” his parents thought.

When Jack got to Shleiden camp, he started to be sorry about his bad marks. The camp was
old and dirty and the monitors were very strict. However, he soon met his new roommates: James
and Peter. They were nice to him but they hated the camp too.

One day, they went to the woods with their teacher. They were looking for leaves when they
saw a strange light. The three boys went towards the light, but it disappeared when they arrived.
“Oh no! It’s the shadow of the princess!” Peter said, scared.

“What?” asked Jack.

“Don’t you know the legend?” James replied. “A long time ago, there was a big palace here. The princess
Sasha fell in love with a handsome prince, William, but her father didn’t accept it because his
town was in war with William’s town. One day, they were together, hidden in the garden, when Sasha’s
father found them. He killed William in front of Sasha. She couldn’t stand it and she killed
herself. Since then, her shadow has been in these woods.”

“ It’s a sad story.”

“Yes, but it’s only a legend… I think.”

The three friends came back to the camp, but when they arrived, Jack
realised that he had lost his cap in the woods.

“You can’t go now, the monitor won’t let you go.”

“Well, I will go tonight. This cap was a present from my grandfather
and it’s important for me.”

That night, Jack went to the woods, alone. He was frightened because
everything was dark and quiet. “My cap must be here. I think it fell
down while we were running to the light” he thought.

Suddenly, the light appeared, but now he wasn’t frightened, he was
BEWITCHED! He heard a voice in his head saying “come here”. Jack
went to the light and saw the princess’ spirit.

“Oh! My love!” said the princess. “Nobody can separate us now.

Come with me, William, I love you.”

“I love you too” said Jack, in a strange voice.

“I have waited for this moment, since I died. I want to be with you
forever.” She added.

Then, the light shone very bright.

The next morning, Peter and James were worried about his friend,
and they went to the woods to look for him.

“Oh my God!” said Peter when he found Jack’s cap on the floor. “We should tell everything to the
police, I think he has disappeared!”

However, the police never found anything, and the light didn’t appear again.
